Comedian and author David Walliams dropped by book publisher.

The author

Acclaimed writer for children and entertainer David Walliams has been dropped by his publisher HarperCollins UK, as confirmed by the firm.

An official for the firm stated: "After careful consideration, and following the appointment of its recently appointed chief executive, HarperCollins UK has chosen to cease publishing additional books by David Walliams."

It has been reported that the conclusion was made after an investigation into claims about conduct deemed unsuitable towards female individuals.

The company has not elaborated on the specific rationale behind the move, noting: "It is not our policy to discuss confidential company decisions."

An Illustrious Writing Journey

Walliams is one of the UK's most successful children's authors, with sales exceeding more than 60 million copies globally in five dozen languages.

His inaugural foray into kids' literature, *The Boy in the Dress*, came out under HarperCollins back in 2008.

Some of his titles, such as *Gangsta Granny* and *Billionaire Boy*, have subsequently been turned into small-screen adaptations.

To date, he has released over four dozen titles combined, encompassing a festive story titled *Santa & Son*, which was published by HarperCollins last autumn.

From Screen to Page

He first rose to fame on the television comedy show *Little Britain* and has been honored with National Television Awards for his duties as an arbiter on *Britain's Got Talent*.

He was awarded an OBE back in 2017 for his services to charity and the arts.

The publisher's decision comes after the selection of Kate Elton as HarperCollins UK's new chief executive in October.
